Mr. Wood received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina and specialized in geotechnical engineering with course work in environmental engineering. He has worked in the geotechnical and environmental engineering fields for the past twelve years. While receiving his Master of Engineering Degree he worked as an Engineering Assistant and Staff Engineer. Mr. Wood also served as the laboratory instructor for the soils laboratory while he attended Graduate School. He has extensive experience in soil testing in addition to other materials testing applications. Prior to joining JOEL E. WOOD & ASSOCIATES, Mr. Wood progressed from staff engineer to head of engineering services for a local geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing firm. Currently Mr. Wood is in charge of the geotechnical and environmental services provided by JOEL E. WOOD & ASSOCIATES.
Related to geotechnical engineering, Mr. Wood specializes in geotechnical field studies, special instrumentation and measurements, embankments, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, pavement design, and seismic studies. Projects include bridges and roadways throughout the State of South Carolina encompassing Piedmont, Coastal Plains and near coast tidal soil conditions. He has been involved with all aspects of the various work assignments including field investigations, in-situ testing, laboratory testing, soil modeling, and computer analysis.
